Automotive Safety — Custom Airbag Initiator Test System
Working with Autoliv, one of the world's largest automotive safety suppliers.
Challenge: Precisely test bridgewire resistance and initiator performance in an automotive safety environment.
QC Solution: A purpose-built test instrument combining specialized measurement, control, and timing functions that were not available in an off-the-shelf product.
Result: A custom production/test solution supporting one of the most safety-critical components in the automotive industry.
Flash X-Ray — Integrated Timing & Trigger Controller
L-3 was using three separate devices — a trigger amplifier, delay generator and event timer — and QC engineered one integrated instrument that replaced them while adding local and remote control. The system also had to trigger a 2,500 V pulse, control firing delay and measure event timing.
Custom Master Timer
Quantum has worked with this OEM many times. When they needed new specifications, a new algorithm, and software upgrades, Quantum Composers jumped in to assist. This is the master timer needed to automate control of laser pulses, cameras, and timing to external signals.

TOF Mass Spectrometer
Quantum Composers partnered with this OEM, EXUM Instruments, to produce a LALI-TOF-MS (laser ablation laser ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer) to help ensure quality in agricultural and pharmaceutical products. The instrument provides trace-level detection of metallic constituents and measures important low-mass elements in a single analytical session in a matter of minutes. More on the blog.
