Customer Application Highlights
Qiyin Fang, McMaster University
MacBiophotonics is an international imaging facility providing access to the latest and best in microscopy, fluorimetry an high content screening.
MacBiophotonics applications include time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy based optical biopsy technology for minimally-invasive cancer margin detections during surgery and for early cancer screening. Another example is to develop advanced time-domain fluorescence imaging techniques for fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) for monitoring protein-protein interactions through FRET (Foster resonance energy transfer). We specialize in develop FLIM-FRET techniques for high content screening of cancer drug leads.
Dr. Fang and his team use digital pulse and delay generators from Quantum Composers for precise data acquisition timing control and synchronization between different components in our time-resolved fluorescence optical biopsy systems, which is currently in clinical trial for early GI cancer screening. Some of them are also used as general purpose fast (ns) timing control in bench-top experiments.
